Shohidul a 25 ans et fait partie d’une famille de douze personnes. Jusqu’à récemment, ils n’avaient pas d’électricité et dépendaient de lampes à kérosène pour éclairer leur maison. Shohidul travaille comme tailleur. Il confectionne des vêtements à l’aide d’une machine à coudre manuelle actionnée par une pédale. Ce type de travail manuel répétitif s’est avéré fatigant car il travaille de jour comme de nuit avec comme seule source de lumière des lampes à kérosène qui fournissent une lumière médiocre, tout en étant dangereuses et polluantes. Tout cela a changé lorsque sa famille a reçu un système solaire domestique. Il utilise maintenant une couture électrique et peut travailler le soir grâce à l’éclairage électrique.

Who we fund
Friendship has developed a clean, environmentally friendly and low-cost solar panel that is adapted to suit the needs of the char dwellers. It can be used, for example, to power lighting thus replacing the traditional lighting source in poor rural areas of Bangladesh, the kerosene lamp. The kerosene lamp is inefficient, unhealthy and a dangerous source of fires. Friendship’s Solar Home System operates at the same cost to the user as the kerosene lamp and brings with it other advantages that greatly improve living standards.
