Jabbar had to take responsibility for the family as the eldest child after his father's death. Jabbar had wanted to finish his education first, but it remained a dream. It became difficult for him to make a living for the family as a day worker. The only property his father left him was their small house on 10 shatak of land.
He was interested in farming since childhood, and learned about modern methods when he talked to one of the Friendship employees. He also started growing vegetables in his yard. Later he started cultivating Aman and boro rice on leased land based on the advise he recived from Friendship. Using the modern methods he had learned, he yielded a good harvest. "Friendship is an equal partner to enjoy this joyful time of my life," Jabbar thanked Friendship.
